Interview of  M. Daniel MATHIEU,              Head of Marketing, Communications and Sustainable Development

What are the latest products developed by your company?

KONICA MINOLTA is a key player today in the printing market, where we are expanding both in terms of sales and printing volume. We have developed several new products recently. In late 2010 we launched the digital colour print presses business hub PRESS C6000 and C7000, and in January 2011 we introduced the business hub PRESS C8000. This digital press is a perfect complement to our colour printing offering. We can now propose a range from 55 to 80 pages per minute, embracing all the technological innovations of our Group.

These three high-performance systems include no less than 36 developments which guarantee quick and efficient professional results. Not to mention new solutions that are continuously launched: such as Print Job Optimizer and Print Job Analyser which were also introduced in late 2010, to check and edit print jobs before they are handled by the printing company.

What is your vision of the printing industry in the medium term? What changes / developments do you anticipate?

The printing market keeps up with technological innovation and has undergone many changes, in particular with the rapid development of digital technology over the past few years. To meet these new requirements an increasing number of printing companies diversify their activities and buy digital presses. This technology offers many advantages, and is a perfect complement to offset printing for certain print jobs, such as short runs or personalized documents (e.g. mailshots, numbered certificates, invoices).

Digital printing provides a fast-reacting and cost-effective solution for this type of applications which are now increasingly requested by customers. To print the right quantity, to meet deadlines, to optimize costs: The KONICA MINOLTA digital presses and their associated software solutions allow printing professionals to expand their offering and to take a foothold in new markets.

What will you place focus on at GRAPHITEC 2011? What new products / added value will you show to visitors on your stand?

At GRAPHITEC 2011KONICA MINOLTA will exhibit its latest technological innovations in terms of equipment and software designed for printing and reprographics companies, and for in-house reprographics centres. Visitors will discover our latest colour print presses business hub PRESS C6000/C7000, and in particular the business hub PRESS C8000.

As when it started, KONICA MINOLTA stands out in the digital colour printing market with a masterpiece of speed and quality with functionalities close to those of offset presses. The business hub PRESS C8000 can print up to 5,520 colour pages per hour: a giant allowing a monthly capacity up to 500,000 pages. Owing to its performance the business hub PRESS C8000 ranks among the fastest presses available on the market when used to print on thick substrates up to 350 g/m², delivering a quality which can easily rival offset quality.

This must-attend event will also offer the opportunity to rediscover the black & white printing press business hub PRO 1051 as well as the KONICA MINOLTA solutions for variable data printing (Printgroove Darwin), print job submission and management (Printgroove POD) and web-2-print (Printgroove JT Web 4).
