Graphic creation

Graphic creation represents the first stage in the "graphic chain" (workflow) and reflects the artistic component of the term "graphic arts industry".

Graphic creation consists in working on the assembly of images, colours, typographic characters and texts to create a printed or non printed product which will be both pleasant to look at (shape) and efficient for communication purposes.

Graphic creation is handled by graphic designers who are responsible for the creation of logos, brand images, artwork or dummies in specialized design agencies or communications firms.

Once all these elements have been created, the document goes through a graphic execution phase which consists in adding content.

Graphic designers and execution managers often have similar training and expertise, and they share the same computer tools and the same DTP softwares.

Graphic creation has been considerably boosted by the development of cross-media and multichannel applications. Specialists who are able to master creative tools and rules and to adapt the printed media expertise to electronic media should have bright career prospects.
